Erin Maloney Keily

Erin (Maloney) Keily, 65, died peacefully on May 6, 2014 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Hartford, CT, on February 2, 1949 to the late Arthur and Mary Maloney. She was a 1971 graduate of St. Joseph College in West Hartford. She was employed by Combustion Engineering until she was unable to continue because of her severe rheumatoid arthritis. She then volunteered for the Arthritis Foundation and worked with students at the University of Connecticut Medical School. Erin was known as a “warrior” to all who respected the way she lived her life in spite of her physical challenges. Her humor was salty and sassy, and her love for her family and friends was abundant. She is survived by her brother Dennis and his wife Barbara of VT, her sister Sheila Tebecio of Newington, CT; sister-in-law Adrienne Maloney of CT; and cousins: Suzanne LaVoie, William (Bill) Berry and his wife Amanda as well as many beloved cousins including the Arens, Brimmer and Egan families. Erin was the favorite aunt of Cristine Maloney and husband David DeBoy, Lisa Maloney Baker and husband Doug, Amy Tebecio, Robbie T. Tebecio and girlfriend Kiera Reilly, Patrick Tebecio and his wife Molly, and their children Pierce and Lilliana, Michael Maloney and wife Miyuki, and Craig Maloney and wife Trish, and children John, Luke and Alexandra. Many wonderful nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews of the Aquila, Arens, Berry, Brimmer, and Keily families filled her life with Joy. Erin was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Michael and Timothy, cousin Diane Christian, and her soul mate and niece Elizabeth Rigney. Other special people in Erin’s life included Sr. Elaine Deasy RSM, Erin’s nephew and kidney donor Matthew Rigney, cousin Kathleen Egan, the loving and caring staff on Baggot Street at St. Mary Home, West Hartford and her college buddies, Meg, Peg, Dotty, Barb, Dawn, Annie and Doris. Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 18 from 2-5 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 19, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Erin’s name may be made to the Juvenile Arthritis Foundation, 35 Cold Spring Rd., Suite 411, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 in recognition of Arthritis Awareness month.
