Emily Gregory Brady

Emily Gregory Brady, 65, of Simsbury passed away on July 20th, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Emily was born in Hartford on February 8th, 1953. She graduated from Hall High School in West Hartford and continued on to receive an Associate Degree from Vermont College in 1973. Emily completed the nursing program at Greater Hartford Community College in 1991, and went on to work as a registered nurse for 20 years at Baystate Medical Center, Johnson Memorial Hospital, and Hartford Hospital. She ended her career as a lactation consultant at Hartford Hospital and loved to teach; taking great satisfaction in working with new and expecting Mother’s. Emily was a tremendous runner, completing the Boston Marathon and Hartford Marathon multiple times, while also enjoying cycling, hiking and skiing. Emily was a special, caring individual who loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She’ll also be remembered for her love of golden retrievers and the years she had with Bonnie, Samantha, and Piper. Emily touched the lives of many people from family, friends, patients and colleagues and will remain in our hearts forever. Emily is survived by her son Gregory Brady and wife Elizabeth Brady of Glastonbury and her two beloved grandchildren Madelyn and Carter, as well as her former spouse of 38 years, Jay Brady of East Granby. She will be greatly missed by many other family and close friends. Emily is preceded in death by her parents George Gregory and Claudia Gregory Fischer and her brother Geof Gregory. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on August 5th at 11:00am at the Simsbury Inn, 397 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury CT. Rev. Erica Thompson of Asylum Hill Congregational Church will be officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The Therapy Dog Program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. The program offers patients staying on inpatient floors the opportunity to bond with certified, fully trained therapy dogs during weekly scheduled visits to the Medical Center.
