Emilia Otazu delAguila

Emilia (Otazu) delAguila, 80, beloved wife of Oscar delAguila Lavalle, of West Hartford, passed away peacefully at her home on February 9, 2026 after a brief illness. Born in Yanahuara, Peru she and Oscar met in Lima and then immigrated to the United States in 1968. She and Oscar moved to West Hartford, where they raised their three boys. Emilia worked in the manufacturing industry for most of her career and was a communicant of St. Brigid Church in West Hartford. Emilia dedicated her life to creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband and their three children. Emilia’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family and fostering a loving environment. She loved walking through the flowers and plants at Elizabeth Park which inspired her to plant beautiful and exotic flowers around the home. She enjoyed a sense of adventure in 1990 she, Oscar Sr. and Oscar Jr. drove to the Canadian provinces to Toronto, Montreal Quebec and Niagara Falls NY. They visited Hawaii for their 20th anniversary as a celebration of their strong bond of marriage to each other. She will remembered her for her generosity, endless love and her willingness to help. She will be greatly missed in the hearts of all of everyone who had an opportunity to meet her. Besides her husband of 60 years she survived by her three children, Oscar Augusto Jr., Jorge and Ruben. In addition, she is survived by her six grandchildren, Ian, Marissa, Gabriel, Julia, Sophia, and Tyler. A special thanks to Marissa who lovingly cared for Emilia in her final weeks and to Trinity Health Hospice and Senior Helpers of West Hartford who made it possible for Emilia to be home. Calling hours are Wednesday, February 18 from 4 to 6 PM at the Molloy funeral Home 906 Farmington Avenue West Hartford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 19 at St. Brigid Church 1088 New Britain Ave West Hartford. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
