Ellen Nora Kennedy

In memory of Ellen Nora Burke Kennedy who is born into eternal life at the age of 82 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT on Dec. 3, 2014. She was married to Thomas J. Kennedy Jr. (deceased), her husband of 49 years and predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Burke and Nancy Burke and brother, Christopher Burke. She is survived by her sisters Moira Burke of Newington, CT and Joan Drury of West Hartford, CT; and eight children: Thomas lll & Joan Kennedy of Wilbraham, MA, John and Silvia Kennedy of Asheville, NC, David & Christine Kennedy of Saratoga, CA, Michael & Susan Kennedy of Doylestown, PA, Patrick & Christi Kennedy of Somers, CT, Brendan & Louise Kennedy of Marblehead, MA, Christopher & Diane Kennedy of Ellington, CT, Mary Ellen Kennedy of Wethersfield , CT, and blessed with 23 Grandchildren, Teresa, Brian, Aidan, John, Michael, Sean, Conor, Alayna, Ian, Evan, Benjamin, Claire, Julia, Patrick, Peter, Paul, Sarah, Julia, Sean, Kathleen, Brenna, Connor and Krista. Ellen was born in Litchfield, CT to John Michael Burke and Mary Dunn. She was a graduate of St. Joseph College School of Nursing with a BS RN and started her career in pediatric nursing at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford as both a floor nurse and later as a teacher. She later worked as a school nurse at the Clay Arsenal in Hartford and Nathan Hale in Enfield, CT. Ellen was a devoted Roman Catholic, loved her Irish heritage and considered her greatest accomplishment her loving family. She enjoyed vacations on Cape Cod and visiting with her cousins in Brewster while there. Calling hours will be at Molloy Funeral Home 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford CT, 4 to 8 PM, Friday December 5, 2014. The Funeral will begin with a procession departing from the Molloy Funeral Home at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Ave. West Hartford, CT at 10 AM Saturday December 6. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield, CT. In memory of Ellen, the family has identified Catholic Relief Services http://www.crs.org/donate/ and Catholic Charities http://www.ccaoh.org/ as two of her favorite charities.
