Dennis Patrick Rogan

Dennis Patrick Rogan passed away on May 12, 2023, at the age of 75 after a battle with cancer. Dennis was the son of Irish immigrants Michael and Margaret Rogan, born and raised in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Having lost his parents at a young age, he was mainly raised by his four older sisters, Frannie, Margie, Mary and Dorothy (Dotsie). He enjoyed the spoils of being the youngest and being looked after by four great women. One of his fondest memories was a trip to Ireland and Europe with his sister Margie when he was a teenager. Dennis was married to his wife Betty Ann for 53 years. They met at a party in Brooklyn when Dennis was 22 and fell in love soon after. Their dedication to one another was extremely touching and admirable to all that knew them. They quickly started a family and had six children, 3 boys and 3 girls, often joking that they were similar to the popular 70s TV show The Brady Bunch. The family was raised in Williston Park, Long Island NY, and Dennis and Betty have lived in West Hartford, CT for the last 15 years. Dennis started his professional career as a math teacher and tutor where he was very appreciated by his students. He spent the majority of his career working for the New York Transit Authority. However, Dennis embodied the phrase of “working to live” as he most enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an active father coaching his kids’ sports teams, teaching all kids how to drive and helping with all of life’s challenges. Dennis would love a good party and showing off his crazy dance moves, or playing cards with friends. He will be described by all as very friendly, easy to be around, and in his later years could always be spotted wearing his signature suspenders. Dennis is survived by Betty Ann and his six children and their families; his daughter Kerry and her sons Patrick, Dylan, and her daughter Julia; his son Dennis, his daughter Caitlyn and son Liam; his son Brian and his wife Lara, his daughter Maureen Casey and her husband Brian, their daughters Caroline, Hannah and Molly; his son Michael and his wife Erin, their daughters Madeline, Audrey and son Aidan; and his daughter Betsy Rogan. Dennis will be honored Thursday May 18th at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave. in West Hartford, CT with visiting hours from 5-8 pm. There will be a service at the Church of Saint Timothy 1116 N. Main St. in West Hartford, CT on May 19th at 11am.
