Catherine Rodgers

RODGERS. Catherine Catherine Rittling Rodgers, 69, of West Hartford, died surrounded by her family, Friday, June 6, 2008, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Stroman Rittling, she made her home in West Hartford for the past 44 years. Cathy's greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. There was nothing she enjoyed more than being a fan at all of their sporting events. She was a communicant of the Church of St. Timothy and was active in many charities including the House of Bread, Tabor House, St. Agnes Guild and St. Mark's Outreach program and countless children's charities. She is survived by her loving seven children and their spouses, Thomas Rodgers of Raleigh, NC, Katharine Katzman and her husband Michael of West Hartford, Elizabeth Lomedico and her husband John of Andover, MA, Karen Miller and her husband Peter of Wayne, PA, Susan Chernovetz and her husband Douglas of Lowell, MA, Ellen Fox and her husband Brendan of West Hartford, Maura Rodgers of West Hartford; nine brothers and sisters, Peter Rittling and his wife Judy, Mark Rittling, Joseph Rittling and his wife Shelley, Charles Rittling and his wife Leslie, Edward Rittling, James Rittling and his wife Mary, Richard Rittling and his wife Karen, Elizabeth Blum and her husband Craig, Margaret Ringer and her husband Michael; her sister-in-law, Susie Rittling; 17 grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary, Caroline, Gregory, Sarah, Catherine, Thomas, Gabrielle, Peter Kaighn, Natalie, Casey, Maggie, Brendan, John, Luke, Gavin, Carys Joy. She was predeceased by her two brothers, John and Gregory Rittling and her sister-in-law Margie Rittling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North Main St., West Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Monday from 4-8 p.m. in The Church of St. Timothy.
