Carolyn Clark

Carolyn Gross Clark, 67, of Branford, Connecticut, died on Sunday, January 29 at Yale New Haven Hospital of complications due to kidney failure. Carolyn is survived by her husband Robert D. Clark, Esq. of Wilton, CT and Branford, CT; her parents Frederick W. and Virginia L. Gross of Towson, MD; her brother Frederick W. Gross, Jr. of Towson, MD; her three children, Arthur Hart Barnes of San Francisco, CA, Christopher Gross Barnes, Esq. and wife Stephanie Amanda Barnes of West Hartford, CT, and Amanda Barnes Kuhl and husband Russell A. Kuhl of Ipswich, MA. She is additionally survived by 5 grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Carolyn was predeceased by her former husband, Arthur Hart Barnes, Esq. of Garden City, Long Island. Carolyn was born in Baltimore on August 7, 1938. She attended the University of Maryland at College Park. As her career and family life evolved, she lived in Baltimore, New York City, Garden City, New Canaan, and most recently she made her home on the shores of the Branford River. Carolyn was successful in every job she pursued, including teaching in the Baltimore City school system, working for American Airlines, co-founding and co-owning The Elegant Bash catering business, fundraising for former New York State Senator, John R. Dunne, managing an award winning team of Welcome Wagon representatives and working for the investment firm of EF Hutton. We remember Carolyn in many ways; as a gracious hostess who frequently gathered with friends, an expert seamstress and avid crafter who enjoyed needle pointing pillows, birth announcements and other keepsakes for friends and family, a dedicated member of the New Canaan Woman?s Club, a spiritual woman who sought strength from her Church and was awed by the beauty and calm of the water, and a doting and adored Grammy to her 5 grandchildren. We will remember Carolyn ? daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend ? for teaching us to live well, laugh often and love much. A memorial service to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held at the Congregational Church of New Canaan, 23 Park Street, New Canaan, CT 06840 on February 18 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn?s memory may be sent to Yale-New Haven Hospital, Annual Fund for Support of Internal Medicine, P.O.
