Carl D. Frobel

Carl D. Frobel of West Hartford passed away peacefully on July 4, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bloomfield on June 6, 1958, Carl was the son of the late Frank and Lauretta Frobel. He was a proud graduate of Northwest Catholic High School and Central Connecticut State University. Carl was deeply proud of earning the rank of Eagle Scout, an achievement that reflected his character and values throughout his life. His dedication to Scouting continued well beyond his youth, and he remained actively involved for many years, mentoring and inspiring others through its principles of service, leadership, and integrity. Above all else, Carl was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Nancy Tuohy Frobel, and by his three cherished children: Brendan Frobel and his wife, Kari; Shannon Smith and her husband, Dan; and John Frobel and his wife, Nicole. Nothing brought Carl greater joy than his grandchildren, who were truly the crown jewels of his life. He treasured every moment spent with Declan, Caitlyn, Sloane, Harper, Harrison, Bain, Sophie, Tessa, and Avery, loving them beyond measure and taking immense pride in each of them. Carl is also survived by his brothers, Fran and his wife, Laura; Paul; William; and Robert and his wife, Melissa. He leaves behind his in-laws, John Tuohy and his wife, Mary; Pat Leonardi; Michael Tuohy; James Tuohy and his wife, Sue; along with countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love. Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours on Wednesday, July 15, at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 16, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Apraxia Kids, a cause that was meaningful to Carl and his family.
