Ben Dumont

Benoit ?Ben? Dumont, 77, beloved husband of 52 years to Yolande Paul Dumont, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2005 at his home in West Hartford after a long, courageous struggle with Parkinson?s and Alzheimer?s disease. Born in Quebec, Canada on December 24, 1927, he was one of seven sons born to the late Adelphe and Jeanne Rose Dumont. A Connecticut resident since 1950, he was a member of the Local 43 as a carpenter for over 47 years until his retirement. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, West Hartford and formally a member of the Elks Club in Willimantic. Ben loved gardening, working around his beautiful yard planting lots of flowers and his sweet dog, Jessie. He will be dearly missed by his family and the many friends who loved him for his generosity and kindness. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children and grandchildren, daughter Suzanne Dumont Navin, her husband Joseph and their children Joseph Matthew, and Patrick, all of West Hartford; son Pierre Pete Dumont, his wife Melissa and their children, J.P. and Ashleigh, all of West Simsbury; and daughter Jane Dumont of East Hampton. He was predeceased in 2002 by his eldest son, Michael Dumont. He also leaves his surviving brothers, Jean-Rock and his wife Crescense, Jean-Claude, and Jean Dumont, in addition to many nieces and nephews, all from Canada. The funeral will be Thursday, October 27 at 9:30 am from the Molloy Funeral Home 906 Farmington Ave. West Hartford, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Peter Claver Church 47 Pleasant St. West Hartford. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank Dr. Fredrick Rowland and the St. Francis VNA/Hospice, especially Mary and Sue, along with Sonya, Dottie, and Leoni for all their Kindness and compassionate care they gave to Ben during his illness.
