Amelia Centeno Ortiz, born on September 22, 1960, in Cidra, Puerto Rico, passed away on March 27, 2026, at the age of 65. She spent more than fifty years in Connecticut, where she built a beautiful life rooted in faith, family, and love, always carrying the warmth and spirit of Puerto Rico in her heart. Amelia was a woman of profound faith who lived guided by her strong belief in God. Her faith sustained her through every stage of life, especially as she bravely battled cancer since 2018. Through it all, she remained strong, hopeful, and unwavering, the true definition of a guerrera, a warrior, as her family lovingly called her. Amelia was known for her compassion, her heart of gold, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She loved Christmas, filling the season with laughter, music, and warmth. But her greatest joy in life was her six daughters: Petra Mulero, Maria Mulero, Hilda Mulero, Diana Fuentes, Maggie Fuentes, and Meliza Skutulas. She loved them deeply, as well as her eleven grandsons, three granddaughters, and four great grandchildren. She also held a special affection for her sons‑in‑law, who became an important part of her life and family. She taught her loved ones to be strong, to hold onto faith when life felt heavy, and to never lose hope during difficult times. Her courage, her kindness, and her unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Amelia will be deeply missed by her daughters, her sons‑in‑law, her grandchildren, her great‑grandchildren, and the many relatives and friends whose lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of strength, laughter, and faith, a legacy that will continue to guide her family for generations. She will always be remembered as a loving, courageous, and joyful woman who walked through life with grace and warmth. And of course, we will never forget her sense of humor, Amelia loved to make people laugh, and her playful spirit will forever live on in the memories of those who loved her most. Today we rest in the peace of knowing that her light does not fade but continues to shine in every life she touched. Though her absence hurts, her love remains steady, eternal, and full of hope. Amelia leaves us physically, but her heart stays with us forever.
