Christopher S. Barrett

Christopher Sullivan Barrett, 86, of West Hartford, died Monday, August 20. The beloved husband of the late, Sheila Kelly Barrett. Born in New York, New York, the son of Howard and Isabel Barrett, he made his home in West Hartford for over 40 years. He moved to Duncaster Retirement Community in Bloomfield where he lived for the last 7 years. Mr. Barrett was a parishioner of the Church of St. Timothy in West Hartford. A graduate of Fairfield University class of 1953, he served for two years in the United States Army and worked for his entire career at Aetna until his retirement in 1991. A devoted father he leaves seven children; Christopher and his wife, Marybeth of Worcester, MA and their children Dan, Kate, Sarah and Matt; Michael and his wife, Cheryl of Briarcliff Manor, NY and their children Stephanie, Annie and Chrissy; Peter of New York City, NY and his children Briggs, Willow and Rex; Kelly Andrew and her husband, Richard of Ellicott City, MD and their children Maggie, Jack, Max, Sam, Callie and Eliza; Donal and his wife Jennifer of Charlotte, NC and their children Lily and Colton; Elizabeth Clevenger and her husband, Michael of Ellicott City, MD and their children Shay, Eloise, Mac and Maisy; and Daniel and his wife, Patricia of Chatham, NJ and their children Clare, Patrick, Georgia and Hugh. One of his greatest joys was being a grandfather to his 26 grandchildren. Immensely proud of each one of them, he reveled in spending time, teasing, instructing, and playing with them. Much family time was shared every July in his beloved Fenwick, CT where he brought the family each summer for over 50 years. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Friends are invited to join Chris’s family at the celebration of his funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 24 at 10 a.m. in The Church of St. Timothy, 1116 North Main St., West Hartford.
